The consortium made of Parker LORD, Vicoter and Politecnico di Milano, led by Parker LORD, is currently involved in a project co-funded by the European Union, entitled EMS UHPE, which is part of the Clean Sky 2 research program and is that ended in December 2022. The objectives of this project are mainly two:

  1. Evaluation and selection of the most promising and suitable Technologies for implementation on Engine Mounts System (EMS) to provide a significant leap in the performance (mainly weight and dynamic behaviour), manufacturing, and assembly of the EMS. This evaluation will be completed using Parker LORD broad experience in EMS configurations and concepts, and modelling and analysis of configurations thru virtual prototyping (dynamic modelling) where Politecnico di Milano, Vicoter and Parker LORD have expertise and capability
  2. Develop, design, build and test the selected technologies and EMS solutions to significantly advance Technology Readiness Level (TRL).

Within this project, Vicoter has two main tasks: from an experimental point of view, the company is involved in the design of the benches and in the instrumentation of the tests; from a numerical point of view, Vicoter is concentrating on the analysis of the finite element modelling of the structure, in order to define the best solution for transferring the load from the pylon to the engine, taking into account the dynamic restrictions provided by the Topic Manager.

This project received funding from the Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking (JU) under Grant Agreement No 687023. The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme and the Clean Sky 2 JU Members other than the Union.
