Suitability certification for transport by aircraft and helicopters of storage box for cartridges for Fiocchi Munizioni S.p.A.

NATO AECTP 400 rules includes a series of vibration and shock tests to ensure portability of munitions, packaging and in general of any military object by trucks, trains , ships , airplanes and helicopters. Depending on the type of transport the rule specifies different kind of tests to perform.

In this work done for Fiocchi Munizioni we have been certified the metallic storage boxes for cartridges for the transport on the airplane Lockheed Martin C-130 and the helicopter EC 725. These storage boxes contained blank cartridges and the test has been performed in order to check their transport by air without suffering damage. The vibration tests were performed on a shaker table Unholtz-Dickie-SA15-S452. The applied spectra were narrowband random or fixed sine on broadband random noise.
